Ries Tripod Heads
Ries Single and Double Tilt Tripod Heads with their unique multi finger leaf clamping system are incredibly strong, sturdy, simple and most of all stable. Ries Large Format Heads are the benchmark of a stable tripod head. Ries makes all of our own parts in our factory located in Bremerton, WA, USA.
Why?
The multi layered finger leaf articulation design contains 164 (J models) or 201 (A models) square centimeters of surface area under one knob. A simple twist and you have a lot of brake force to hold the position. The J200-2, J250-2, A200-2 and the A250-2 have twice the amount of leaves and are twice as strong. What is single tilt?
Single tilt Heads only tilt along the plane of the tripods top surface, forward and back. See A200 collage below
What is double tilt?
Double Tilt Heads tilt on the on the plane of the top surface, forward and back and tilt left and right. See J250 in collage below
What is the -2 in a Head? Example: J250-2
Leaves. Lots of leaves. The extra stainless steel leaves increase the brake force surface area.

All Performances are based on Ries models manufactured after January 2014 when the Ries factory converted from cast aluminum to the current wrought 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. Though similar in appearance to the older cast aluminum the older Ries models are not rated to the same specifications as our newer models.
