1. I notice short struts connecting the top of each leg with the underside of the top plate. What are these?
Those are the Ries Trilocs which lock the angle of the legs. These locking clamps let you lock down the leg angle at any position. Each leg has one meaning that you can position the legs independently. We are the only tripod manufacturer that has this great feature.
2. I am 6 ft.4 in. tall. which tripod would you recommend?
You said you are 6’4″ and normally I would recommend that we custom make the tripod about 8 inches longer. We can add another 4 inches each to the Inner Legs and Outer Legs. Custom Lengths also come with Custom Prices. It usually adds $150 to $250 to the price depending on the model of tripod and type of wood. It will also add 2-3 weeks for delivery.
Or…
Take a look at the A100ST Tripod. It is actually the A900 Tripod and the A700 Extension Legs put together. What you will have is a tripod that can be 3 feet tall all the way to 10 feet tall and everything in between. This is what I use because I shoot over roads, hedges, and crowds or I am shooting macros close to the ground. This makes the tripod very versatile but it is also a little heavier. It also comes in The A100ST Bundle.
3. Your site offers a head with just one tilt axis. How do I level the camera laterally and fore aft?
With the A200 Head You would have to adjust the legs of the tripod to get it level. The A200 has a built in level to help with this. That is why the A250 Double Tilt head is so much better. It does not matter how level your tripod is, all you have to do is simply use the tilt axis clamp on the head and you are level. Easy.
4. Do you have a price list?
Our prices are all on the website. Each item has features like type of knobs, size of screw and so on. Select the options you want and it will give you the price to place in the cart.
