1. Can the tripod pan? - No, but the Ries head will pan on the tripod.

2. Can the head pan and if so, how? - Yes, the head can pan simply by slightly unscrewing the tripod head’s attaching screw and rotating the tripod head.

3. What is the warranty for Ries equipment? - All of the Ries products have a lifetime warranty on parts and workmanship.

4. Are any discounts offered for students, professional photographers, and not-for-profit organizations? - There are several colleges and universities that have accounts with Ries Industries. If a student would like a tripod, they should request the item through the appropriate department. The school will contact Ries with a purchase order. There are no discounts for professional photographers or not-for-profit organizations. However, if the buyer attends a workshop that features Ries’ equipment, the workshop coordinator may offer a 10% discount certificate.

5. Are trade-ins offered in order to upgrade equipment? - Some trade-ins are made at the discretion of Ries Industries.

6. What is the main difference between the H600 and the J600 tripods, besides one pound? - The H600 has a 2 inch diameter crown to accommodate other manufacturers’ heads. The J600 has a 4 inch diameter crown to acommodate the Ries J Series heads.

7. Does the price for the J600 and H600 tripods include the carrying cases? - Yes, they are our backpacker models.

8. How close to the ground can the tripods be lowered and still remain stable? - The J100 can be lowered about 13"; the A series, about 16".

9. Can the J700 extension legs be used with the H-series and C-series? - Yes. Does the stability change? - No.

10. Can the carrying cases be checked in as luggage? - Yes, as long as the head is tilted up at 90 degrees. We also recommend that the zipper handles be tied together to keep them from opening during transit. The cases can also be used as additional luggage to carry other kinds of items such as your dark cloth, sweaters, or hats.

11. Which tripods are best for the 35mm camera? - The H Series tripods.

12. Are the tripods suitable for video cameras? - Yes.

13. Are the tripods acceptable for digital cameras? - Yes. They work very well for digital cameras because of their stability and vibration damping.

14. Is the J100 tripod available in a taller height? - Yes. The J100 can be 6" taller by ordering the J100-6 or 8" taller by ordering the J100-8.
